Ride the BEST ride GHP

« on: July 16, 2008, 09:39:16 pm »

As we all know the 2009 Nationals are to be in Perth and not long after that the 2009 Worlds will be in Adelaide.

The big thing on most people’s minds is the cost to get to Perth, the accommodation, entry fees, car hire, food etc. But then we have to do it all again a short time later to get to Adelaide.

My question is what are people doing to get to these events?
Has anyone found cheap flights?
Cheap accommodation?
Cheap car hire?
Has any clubs looked at chartering a coach?

Post up what you are doing or what you club is doing to help get families to these events as I know we will find it hard to do both if any at all due to the rising costs.

I am sure people would like to know what you have found to make the trip/s easier on the pocket and any idea’s you maybe able to share.

Some idea's for people and clubs to get the ball rolling.

Get a group together and hit up a travel agent for a group deal.

Get a group together and hire a 12, 14, 22 or 24 seat bus and trailer.

Hire a Campervan for the trip.

Fundraise (all clubs should have a fundraising co-ordinator) by selling chocolates (Tuggeranong BMX Club does this and it works), sausage sizzles at Bunnings (on a Sunday you can raise around $1200 plus net profit in a day).

Do a club car boot sale (Tuggeranong is trying this on the 26th July) or run a market day or host a dinner and auction night.

Put a spare change box at your club canteen (again Tuggers do this and it works with $35 plus dollars in just a few weeks)

Come on people, must be more idea's out there.........

Wardy and I booked into Formula 1 for Perth and it wasn't too expensive. I will let you know how I go with Adelaide.  Afro
